"Missing or bad StoreDriver MDB properties" but PolicyRouting is false

In my 2013 CU1 setup my users sometimes gets "Remote Server returned '532 5.3.2 STOREDRV.Deliver; Missing or bad StoreDriver MDB properties'" when sending to a shared mailbox.

I have "AddressBookPolicyRoutingEnabled : False" and the mailbox is not hidden.

Any tips on where to look?

Exchange 2013 - Accept unroutable email adresses (noreply@device)

$

Hi,

we upgraded from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.
Our old 2007 Frontend still acts as a SMTP Relay to forward emails from legacy devices (storages, printers etc) to our new Setup.

Everything works fine except emails that are having an unroutable Mail From: address (ie. user@machine), no FQDN.

They are forwarded fine to the new setup, but i believe EXC2013 does not accept emails like this.

Unfortunately this sender address is hardcoded and can not be changed easily at this point. Is there any solution to this?

Thanks a lot

Moving from Hosted Exchange Service to On-Premises

$

Hi,

I am tasked with deploying Exchange 2010 SP1 on the premises in order to move our mail services on site. I've followed the instructions of deployment assistant, which enabled me to successfully deploy the server and its services.

My issue now though is that, because the on premises and the hosted service utilizes the same Login IDs, Outlook will constantly prompt my users for the local password, though their intention is to sign into the hosted service mailbox as we have not yet cut over.

I've tried setting the MX record priority on the local DNS server, however this only ensures that outbound mails are routed using the hosted service but does not prevent Outlook from trying to connect to the local mail server with the same UPN.

I need to be able to test the deployment with the our domain name (ex. john.doe@acme.com) without interfering with the production environment even if they use the same Login ID.

I know I can set up an alternate domain suffix (actually I've already done this) and test everything, however my manager is pretty peculiar and likes to test things apples-2-apples.

Any advise you can provide would be fine.

Can Exchange Online Protection's Outbound Smart Host be limited to only relay certain mailboxes?

Wondering if Exchange Online Protection's Outbound Smart Host can only be limited to forward/relay certain mailboxes vs forwarding the entire domain.  Anyone have any experience with this?  Is there any other way to do this if it can't?

block incoming external mail for set of users

We are a school district and need to prevent to our students from being able to receive email from outside our district.

IE, no internet mail.

I am already aware of the "users must be authenticated" trick but I know there is a better way to do it. We set it up for our Exchange 2010 server years ago but I can't remember how. Our students now do not have the "users must be authenticated" checkbox checked, and do not receive external email so I know it can be done another way.

If I remember right we might have done it in Exchange 2010 with the anti-malware somehow?

Do I use the account from my Verizon.net ISP or do I use the account from Arvixe email?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I have an issue trying to encrypt an email message and sending it to someone. The error which i'm facing is "Microsoft outlook cannot sign or encrypt this message because the certificate is not valid". I've never used this SMIME feature of outlook. Referred few articles and blogs but couldn't get any clue. I've managed to get the user certificate for myself from Comodo which is for free use. Please let me know how to understand and use this feature as i'm new to it. Does the server has to do anything in this process related to SMIME settings..

in coming Mail flow in co-exist envt. Ex 2013 and 2007

If we deploy Exchange 2013 in co-exist envt with Exch 2007 and have to shut down Exch 2013 for some maintenance / update, does Ex-2007 takes care of the mail flow for the users who are still on Ex-2007 and not migrated over to Ex-2013?

I know there won't be any issue for outgoing email. I am not sure for incoming emails. Any suggestion?

Thanks.

Dear

We have 2 x Exchange 2003 (FE & BE), during Exchange 2003/2010 mail flow issue, we delete then recreate send connector (to Smart host->Internet) and the (Ex2k3/Ex2k10-HT) servers routing group connectors

After that all mail flow working fine (between 2k3 & 2k10/ and outside/inside). Only we start getting Event logs on FE and BE with the below details :

Event Type:    Warning
Event Source:    MSExchangeMTA
Event Category:    Security
Event ID:    9297
Date:        6/4/2013
Time:        7:00:53 AM
User:        N/A
Computer:    BE
Description:
Calling client thread does not have permission to use MTA RPCs. Windows 2000 error code: 0X80070005. Client user account: NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON. [BASE IL INCOMING RPC 29 237] (14)

When I gave the Anonymous SendAs/ReceiveAs permission it stop EventID 9297 and log event 9322, so i revert back. We don't have name resolution issue or communication issue between BE/FE servers

Some distribution lists not working when sent over SMTP using C#

$

I have a C# application that sends to distribution lists via the System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient class.

The distribution lists are pulled using an LDAP query, and I store both the outlook name for the distribution list as well as the actual email of the distribution list for use.

For example: I store both #TEST Users (name) and #testusers@mycompany.com (actual email address for the distribution list)

I've run several tests with multiple distribution lists without any problems. Emails send fine without any problems.

One of my distribution lists, however, #XYZApp Users, refuses to send to anyone. This distribution list has a total of 546 recipients. None of the other lists are that large, however, I did successfully send an email with two separate distribution lists that totalled 744 recipients (one list had 438 the other 306).

Any ideas why one distribution list would work and others would not? Is there a cap on the number of recipients in a distribution list when sending emails over SMTP?

Exchange 2013 Moderated Lists

$
0
0

We have upgraded from 2007 to 2013 and we are planning on getting rid of our old list server to use Exchange's fancy new moderated distribution lists.  To my dismay, it won't let you add smtp accounts, thus, I have to create an AD object for every member of our lists.  The problem has come about giving access to users outside of our organization the ability to email the list.

If I set delivery management to the default, "Only members inside my organization" the following occurs: People in my organization are moderated, people outside get a NDR.

If I set delivery management to the other option, "Senders inside and outside my organization", the following occurs: People in my organization are moderated, people outside are not, and email goes through to the entire list.

How can I set this up so that inside and outside people get moderated.  This seems poorly implemented, or maybe it is just not working properly.
