Exchange 2013 ssl certificate request domain format
Unable to receive Emails from a Hotmail Sender.
Does anybody have any insight into this that could help?
I should also note that we have Exchange 2010, not 2013.
FQDN on EHLO for External
If I telnet to my exchange 2013 server and do an EHLO it returns the local server name and not the external FQDN.
Mxtoolbox.com flags this as a problem as it doesn't match my reverse DNS which is to the external FQDN.
How do I change it to return my external FQDN ?
thanks
ERROR 5.7.1 unable to relay when setting up an exchange server to take over from hosted mail
Ill first outline the situation,
We have a client that wanted to move his hosted mail to his new exchange server.
So we setup everything and outgoing mails work fine (i can test them no problem)
What i can't get around to is getting a test mail through telnet to drop an internet mail to a local account.
things i checked:
1) domain is in accepted domains list
2) in default mail policy the account@domain.com is allowed
3) administrator@domain.com is allowed email address for that user and is assigned to him as the primary email address
the default frontend connector allows anonymous connections
I am probably overlooking something stupid, possibly i cant get the mails to be accepted until the DNS record is moved from the current mail hosting to the new exchange public ip address?
Other option is a certificate issue but that shouldnt block anonymous mails to arrive?
its in dutch but i suppose most of the information is just readable like this
So if anyone can pitch an idea (or confirm it is indeed because of the public dns record still pointing to current mailhosting.)

Recipient Filtering not working
I have recipient filtering enable on my exchange 2010 hub server. However email sender is not getting a email reply of invalid recipient refusal email.
Any suggestion troubleshooting this issue?
Shared Message store in Microsoft exchange 2010 and 2013
First - an example of what a shared message store is. User sends an email with a 10 MB attachment to 50 users, a share message store would keep a copy of the attachment. When a users wants access the attachment the application opens the attachment on the shared message store.The attachment would not go to each user -consuming disk space with 49 attachment duplications
Does Microsoft Exchange server 2010 or 2013 have that feature available? It might not be called shared message store but something else.
thank you
Authenticate an email sent from a Windows 7 service
My computer is running Windows 7 Pro with 8GB RAM and I have administrative access.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Professional with C#.
The computer is on a University network with a Windows 2008 domain, and is going through the University mail server so it is not an issue of a firewall blocking port 587 as it will work when I run it under may own account.
I am writing a windows service to monitor a database at regular intervals and when as certain set of conditions is right it will email the appropriate person a reminder.
The database actions are all working fine so there is no problem there.Where I do have a problem is when I run this program as a normal executable it will correctly send the smtp email.For this is use the following authentication:
The email message is correctly formed specifying To, From, Subject, Body
SmtpClient client = newSmtpClient(“mailserver.co.uk”, 587);
client.EnableSsl = true;
client.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network;
client.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
client.Send(message);
When I run the same program as a Windows service I have to provide different authentication so that it will continue to work even when I am logged out, which I do using:
SmtpClient client = newSmtpClient(“mailserver.co.uk”, 587);
client.EnableSsl = true;
client.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network;
client.UseDefaultCredentials = false;
client.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(“myAccount@mailserver.co.uk”,”MyPassword”)
client.Send(message);
The exception message that is thrown is:
EXCEPTION: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated
at System.Net.Mail.MailCommand.CheckResponse(SmtpStatusCode statusCode, String response)

at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message)
at DionysiaWcfServiceLibrary.DionysiaServiceLibrary.DirectMailer(MailDespatch email)
Everything that I have read always say to use:
System.Net.NetworkCredential(“myAccount@mailserver.co.uk”,”MyPassword”)
I have also tries using the smtp servers fully qualified name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your time and effort.
How do I tell my hosting company to send queued emails to our Exchange server 2003
Hello,
Does anybody know how to tell our hosting server email to send emails to our SBS 2003/Exchange server 2003?
We have a SMTP Virtual Server configured and a SmallBusiness SMTP Connector configured.
We can send and receive internal emails to exchange accounts.
We can send external emails from exchange accounts.
We cannot receive external emails through exchange.
Thanks,
Tony

Exchange 2013 as a mail relay
Hi,
I have a debian webserver that uses exchange to send mail. With internal mail (my own domain) it works perfectly. But as soon as I send an email to external domains (gmail, hotmail, etc) it gives this error:
to=<mymail@gmail.com>, relay=name of my server[ip from my server]:25, delay=5.1, delays=0.03/0.01/0.01/5, dsn=5.7.1, status=bounced (host name of my server[ip from my server] said: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay (in reply to RCPT TO command)Can someone please help me with this problem?
Anti-malware updates are not available
I have a problem getting updates for the anti-malware system in Exchange. The event log reads:
Event ID 6029
MS Filtering Engine Update process was unsuccessful in contacting the Primary Update Path. Update Path: http://forefrontdl.microsoft.com/server/scanengineupdate
The firewall (MS TMG) shows that two request for two .cab files is sent to what I assume are Akamai content servers (it does not reverse) since the IP on this http get request will change based on what forwarder I provide my internal DNS.
I also see a request for two Microsoft CRLs.
Are there any useful logs to look at to determine why this isn't working?

Distribution list Moderators not receiving moderation emails
Hi
I've got several moderated distribution lists but none of them are receiving any moderation notifications. The email is making it into the moderation holding box but nothing is happening from then. I'm getting this information from the message queue
Message Source Name: Moderated-Transport
Source IP: 255.255.255.255
SCL: -1
Date Received: 25/06/2013 11:17:30
Expiration Time: 27/06/2013 11:17:30

Any ideas on what could be causing this to break?
Send via Email Alias
We have a few groups (HR and Legal) that provide services for a few different companies. I would like the groups to be able to send/receive messages from multiple email domains, but I would like to avoid each user having multiple Mailboxes on the system (each with multiple calendars, contact lists, GAL entries, etc)
It is so easy to add additional inbound alias, but I for the life of me cannot find a good solution for sending Outbound via an alias.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how they've done something similar in their own org?
We're running Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013.
Domain Keys, DKIM, Yahoo, and Exchange 2010
Hello,
I am being blocked by Yahoo with the error message: 451.4.4.0 Primary IP address responded with "421 4.7.1 [TS03] All message from x.x.x.x will be permanently deferred; Retrying will NOT succeed. See http://postmaster blah blah blah.
I found that this is a problem with the DKIM and I used https://github.com/Pro/dkim-exchange open source to try and remedy this but I was unsuccessful. I don't think I am doing anything wrong as I followed the instructions to the letter.
These are the results of the auth-results@verifier.port25.com email.

Issues of 2013 receive connector
I installed 2013 cu1(full roles), it created 5 connectors by default(2 HubTransport,3 FrontendTransport)
I gave "Default Frontend XXX" anonymouse permission, and then I logon another email system and send to 2013 Exchange server.
It was failed, the error was "451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX2", but 1 hour later, the
mail was deliveried and I can read this email on 2013 server's owa. After that the 2013 server can get email immdeiately. But after I restart MStransport service, the issues occoured again and it restored in 1 hour.
If I disable all Frontend Transport and bound port 25 to "Default XXX(Hub Transport)", there was no issues of receive on
2013.
Anyone has ideas WHY the FrontendTrandTransport cannot work immdeiately?
BTW, my exchange envrioment is hybird(2010 sp3)
Tks!!!
Message Deferred by categorizer
Hi,
We experienced queueing of messages and error is saying "message deferred by categorizer".
It resume to normal when we restarted transport service.
Is this related to Anti-Virus or Active Directory.?

Disable local anonymous mail
Hello everyone,
Our Exchange Server 2013 system has 2 servers with CAS and mailbox roles installed, which built up a single DAG.
Since last week, one of our admins keep receiving alert mails from the monitoring system, and it won't stop. Even if we shutdown the monitor server, or disable the sending account, nothing's changed. So I tried to stop that annoying mail from Exchange side.
The only thing I see that might help is the Default Frontend receive connector. It is the only connector in our system that allows Annonymous users to connect to:
But if I remove that selection, all the inbound mails from the internet cannot be delivered to our system, due to error 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated.
How could I rescope the connector to disallow anonymous users in our system only?
Thank you all,
