External companies with Barracuda firewalls not able to deliver mail to our Exchange 2013 environment reliably.

We upgraded to Exchange 2013 about a year ago. Since that time we've been having issues with certain companies having their mail delayed or rejected when sending to us. No problems us sending to them though.  Eventually through troubleshooting I have determined that all of these different companies have one thing in common: a barracuda firewall.

In the year since the installation I have updated Exchange all the way to SP1 but we still have this issue. The messages usually arrive to us, but quite often a day later, etc.  Here is the message from one from the 26th that was rejected:

#< #4.0.0 X-Spam-&-Virus-Firewall; conversation withmail.domain.ca[64.46.58.226] timed out while sending MAIL FROM> #SMTP#

Why is this particular 2013 DAG member showing up in message tracking

$

0

I have a 4 member 2013 DAG with 2 of those members holding only offline DB copies.  One of those 2 "backup" DAGs is continually referenced in delivery reports for messages. If that server is not hosting any active DBs or mailboxes, why are messages transiting that server?

A few more details that make it unclear as to why that server is being referenced, both backup servers are in a remote site, the internet send connector excludes the to backup servers as "sources".  The message tracking references in question are always inbound to users mailboxes, not outbound.

There are no message flow problems that I am aware of, just this unexplained path.

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide and thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi,

I am trying to send an email from Powershell on Mailbox role of Exchange server. I have installed Symantec Mail Security on Mailbox Role.

When I try to send email using Powershell, I got the following error.

PS C:\a> Send-MailMessage -to admin@domain.com -Subject "Alert Closed.. Service is restarted on Computer" -fromAdmin@domain.com -Body "The service was found stopped on Computer it was started automatically and it is now running normally." -bodyasHTML -priority High -SmtpServer smtp.domain.com

    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient:SmtpClient) [Send-MailMessage], SmtpException

This command is working fine on every server except exchange server (CAS, Mailbox). Firewall is off on the servers.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Mail flow to Edge Transport from a different AD site

$

Trying to define a solution for *outbound* load balancing from Exchange 2013 organisation between Edge Transport servers.

Setup:

1 Edge Transport server in SiteA

1 Edge Transport server ins SiteB

Both subscribed to the AD site in SiteA and are therefore on the same send connector (to allow automatic load balancing and failover)

Situation:

Lets say all MBX/CA servers in SiteA go offline.  Can an MBX/CA server in SiteB send email directly to the Edge Transport that is subscribed to the AD site in SiteA, or does there need to be an MBX/CA server available in SiteA to hop through?

I'm hoping for an answer to be backed up clearly by a TechNet article or authoritative source as I can't really work with guesses.

Thanks.

Let’s say I have an Edge Transport subscribed to ADSiteA.  All MBX/HT servers in ADSiteA go down.  Can a MB/HT server in ADSiteB send an email directly to an Edge Transport subscribed to ADSiteA, or does it need to hop through an MBX/HT in the subscribed site?

Prevent Own Domain Spoofed Spam

Hi guys!

We got Exchange 2013 in the Internet facing ADsite.

If an externat user use telnet to port 25, we need to prevent that a mail from our own domain can be accepted.

In Exchange 2010, we prevent this removing the ExtendedRights ms-exch-smtp-accept-authoritative-domain-sender on ther Internet connector.

Now in Exchange 2013, we remove this ExtendedRights in the FrontEnd Internet Connector, but the mail is accepted anyway.

Any idea if this behavior change in Exchange 2013?

Esteban

Delivery Error

Hi!

Our senders are sometimes receiving the below error message while sending emails to our Exchange 2010:

Delivery Failure Report

Your message: Re: Mail error

was not delivered to: our receiver email address

because: 550 < our receiver email address
No such user here<o:p></o:p>

What should you do?

You can resend the undeliverable document to the recipients listed above by
choosing the Resend button or the Resend command on the Actions menu.

Once you have resent the document you may delete this Delivery Failure Report.

If resending the document is not successful you will receive a new failure
report.

Unless you receive other Delivery Failure Reports, the document was
successfully delivered to all other recipients

Exchange transport rule so a message classification

$

I can create the RMS template in the RMS management utility on the RMS server, put the templates in a shared location and enable RMS by specifying a template location in a Group Policy.

The result is thatusers will see the message classifications in Outlook

but when I try to create a transport rule based on the template, the templates are not available in ECP in the dropdown for message classification (the ones you see in the example below are there b/c I added them via Exchange powershell.

The other way to add message classifications is to create them in PowerShell on the mail server.  When created this way the Message classifications show up when creating a new rule (as seen above) butthe end users don’t see them in Outlook.

One source says to make a registry change on the user’s computers:

Next, copy the XML file to a location on the client or networked location which is readable by Users. On the client, make the following registry changes:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Policy]

"AdminClassificationPath"="c:\\Classifications.xml"

"EnableClassifications"=dword:00000001

"TrustClassifications"=dword:00000001

After trying both a network share and a local file, the Classifications still don’t show up in Outlook.

So the only way to get them to show up in Outlook doesn’t allow you to include them in a transport rule (and thus you’re not able to create a rule that allows forwarding inside the domain only) and the way to get them to show up when creating a transport rule doesn’t seem to work as far as getting them to show in Outlook.

Adding them via PowerShell on the Exchange server actually does get them to show up in OWA the way you would expect, they just won't show in Outlook 2010. I imagine the issue is with the reg entry that points Outlook to the xml
file….(and I do realize reference given is Offfice 2013)  it’s entirely
possible that Office 2010 requires a new key in a slightly different place but
im only seeing references to office 2007 and 2013

Exchange 2013 Address Book Policy Routing Agent Issue with Mailboxes Hidden From the Address Lists

$

When the AddressBookPolicyRoutingEnabled attribute is enabled by running Set-TransportConfig -AddressBookPolicyRoutingEnabled $True, I am having an issue with delivery failures for mailboxes that are hidden from the address book. I receive the following undeliverable message:

'532 5.3.2 STOREDRV.Deliver; Missing or bad StoreDriver MDB properties'

If I disable the AddressBookPolicyRoutingEnabled attribute by running Set-TransportConfig -AddressBookPolicyRoutingEnabled $False then emails are successfully delivered to the mailbox that is hidden from the address list.

I followed the installation instructions here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj907308(v=exchg.150).aspx

Below is the status of the ABP Routing Agent on my Hub Transport/Mailbox server:

Enabled: True
Priority: 5
TransportAgentFactory: Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.AddressBookPolicyRoutingAgent.AddressBookPolicyRoutingAgentFactory
AssemblyPath: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\agents\AddressBookPolicyRoutingAgent\Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.AddressBookPolicyRoutingAgent.dll
Identity: ABP Routing Agent
IsValid: True
ObjectState: New

Has anyone else run into this issue yet?

I am in the middle of a Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 Sp1/CU4 migration and am importing transport rules and it's failing.

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Import-TransportRuleCollection -FileData C:\2007TransportRules.xml -Verbose
Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'FileData'. Cannot convert value "C:\2007TransportRules.xml" to type "System.Byte[]". Error: "Cannot convert value "C:\2007TransportRules.xml" to type "System.Byte". Error: "Input string was not in a correct format.""

Before you ask, I am still on SP1/CU4 because CU5 and CU6 are so buggy I refuse to install them. And that's probably not the fix anyway... WHEN IS CU7 coming out?

Exchange server 2013 send and received issue

Hi Support,

I have install Exchange Server 2013 with server 2012 ( my domain not resisted but mail send & received in local for practice then live ) but few days back some changes in dns and ecp and mail stop sending and receiving. how to verify my exchange server 2013 working fine. Please give the step check perpoes.

Exchange 2013 Can't send emails to Exchange 2010, but can receive and send/receive externally.

I have installed exchange 2013 on an environment running exchange 2010, and I have migrated several mainlboxes to exchange 2013.

I can telnet into both exchange servers from the other and run commands.

Problem: I cannot send email from exchange 2013 to exchange 2010.

Additionally:

- I can send/receive email between external (gmail) and exchange 2013.

- I can send from exchange 2010 to (exchange 2013 and external (gmail)), but I cannot get any email to exchange 2010.

- Initially, I was not able to even send email from 2010 to 2013, but adding the servername of exchange 2013 into the host file of 2010 resolved the issue. So, I also added 2010's servername into 2013's host file, thinking this would resolve the issue of not getting emails to 2010 but it did not resolve the issue.

When I look in 2013's Message Queue Viewer I can see my emails to exchange 2010 with the retry status:

It seems like an issue with the exchange 2010 receive connectors, but I am certain I didnt make any changes to the receive connectors on exchange 2010.

Any assistance would be greatly received.
