Unable to forward emails

Hey everyone.

I have an issue that I cannot seem to resolve or find any answer on.

When I am in ECP for exchange 2013, I go into the user, select mail flow settings and then enable forwarding like normal, but since last week, When I select who I want to forward the mail to, it will not populate the field and I cannot forward mail.  I have tried the powershell command for this also, and when I go to verify it, there is nothing there.  The only way for me to do this now is to log in as the user but I cannot keep doing that.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Exchange 2010 - Transport rules - Move mail sent to distribution list, not members

$

Hello,

My boss asked me the following request but I have a doubt about it:

Is it possible, on Exchange 2010, to create a transport rule which move a mail to a Public Folder if a specified Subject is present and if the mail is sent to a distribution list (all the group, not only a member).

I've got the action: redirect to an address (mail of the mail-enabled Public Folder). => OK

I've got the condition for the Subject.: when the Subject field contains specific words. ==> OK

But I have a doubt for the fact of the distribution list as recipient.. Indeed, I want the condition to match the whole distribution group and not only a member. So in my case "sent to a member of distribution group" is not good. ==> Not OK

To sum up: is there a way to create a transport rule which match a distribution list (whole members, not only one) as condition?

Tricky Exchange 2013 send issue - im stumped...

Hi everyone,

I ran into an issue this morning in my Exchange 2013 SP1 environment today that has me stumped. Like most issues, it just happens. No changes, patches or updates to the system were applied and the system was normal until now. Here is my problem –

My Outlook users have their own mailboxes, and my company has a Help Desk email box that has its own user account. My users are set up via Exchange / Outlook to have their own mailboxes and full access to Help Desk mailbox in their Outlook .

Each Outlook client in configured with the users account, and the Help Desk account because users want to be able to hit the FROM button in Outlook and chose whether a reply comes from them personally or the Help Desk mailbox.  This has worked great, up until now.

All of a sudden, you cannot send from the Help Desk account anymore. The mailbox opens up, a user can see and access all the mail and it is receiving email fine. But if a user wants to reply or create NEW email, choses FROM and uses the Help Desk account they get this error on sending

Sending reported error (0x8004010F) Outlook data file cannot be accessed.

The users regular account works fine.

I recreated the mail profile, didn’t help the issue. I checked on OWA and if you access the Help Desk account on its own it sends fine.

If you create an email from your own email account and CC the Help Desk, it sends fine.

All users have Full Access permission and Send As permission on the server.

Nothing has changed that I know of and this worked totally fine for almost a year until today, it just stops working.

Any ideas, I’m totally stumped… I have to apply CU7 still this weekend, maybe that will do something. But as of now I cant even see any real errors as to whats going on here.

Routing Emails - Send Connector

Hi,

I have an Exchange server 2013 with several accepted domains say a.com, b.com, c.com. I have a Firewall server which acts as a smarthost. My question is can I setup mail flow in such a way that, any emails coming from the domain b.com should use a specific send connector which routes the emails to the smart host.

Any emails coming out of other domains, should be routed directly to the internet using a separate send connector.

Awaiting your kind help.

Thanks and Regards,

Exchange 2013, trying to monitor NDRs... how?

$

Hello,

I have an Exchange 2013 on-premise server and it has mailbox users and it also is setup as a Mail Relay for our on-premise so that other servers/services can use exchange to send messages out.

I have a program that uses Exchange as a mail-relay to send out and sometimes it sends out to recipients that do not exist which would generate an NDR. But since this service is not a real user with a mailbox on exchange we don't have an NDR.

I've created postmaster@mydomian.com following this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb400930(EXCHG.80).aspx

I've set it so that the postmater mailbox in exchange gets copied on any NDR 5.1.1 (recipient not found) errors.

My goal was so that when this service (sendmail on AIX) on our network uses the exchange server as a mail relay server and exchange gets a NDR on one of the recipients it is sending to it would forward to the postmaster mailbox; but this does not seem the case?

I've set the following..

Set-OrganizationConfig -MicrosoftExchangeRecipientReplyRecipient postmaster@domain.com

Set-TransportConfig -ExternalPostmasterAddress postmaster@domaincom

Set-OrganizationConfig -MicrosoftExchangeRecipientReplyRecipient postmaster@domain.com

If I login to a webmail service provider like gmail and send a message to some mailbox I know does not exist on my exchange server I get the NDR copy in the postmaster mailbox so it works like that...

Anyone know why this is not working? Why am I not getting the NDR?

Is there any requirement that MX record needs to have a valid PTR record?

e.g. an MX record: mx.domain.com resolves 1.1.1.1 in addition the IP address(1.1.1.1) needs to have a PTR record that resolves back tomx.domain.com.

Thanks in advance.

Mail stuck in QUEUE after migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

After a migration from Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange server 2013, I turned off the Exchange 2010 Server to ensure mail flow continued before decommissioning it. Users are now getting a ‘Delayed Message’ bounce back when sending email. All mail is stuck in the queue of the Exchange 2013.

When I turned the Exchange 2010 back on again, mail flow was restored and the queue emptied. In testing, when I stopped the service “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access”, on the Exchange 2010, the mail was again delayed and stuck in the queue on the Exchange 2013. I restarted that service and everything went back to normal again.

Is there a setting that I can’t see that I should have migrated? Thanks

Slow mail flow?

Hi all!

I installed Exchange 2013 CU1 on Server 2012. I have 2 2012 one for AD and one for Exchange. This is small enviroment, EX2013 has 8GB of RAM and 10 users on it. We recive around 150 mails per day and send about 100 mails per day so this is very low resource usage...

When we were on exchange 2010 SP3, when I sent mail to gmail account which is configured to send mail back to me it all took around 10 seconds tops!

Now it takes waaay more, see attached image....

Any idea why it is so slow?

Greg

Exchange 2013 CU7 OWA Internal Delivery Issue

I installed CU7 and have an issue when OWA tries to send email to same mailbox/CAS server it resides on. I'm in a mixed 2007/2010/2013 environment with several edge & multiple CAS/mailbox servers and this is affecting all 2013 servers at CU7 while all 2013 CU6 are working fine.  Every CAS/Mailbox server runs OWA as these are located at different geographic locations.

OWA can send email to the outside world and to other CAS/mailbox servers fine but just not to itself.  Outlook clients are routing fine when on the same server or other servers.

The last message tracking I Get is 250 2.1.5 Recipient OK with Event Data of E2Elatency, 2.016 Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Mailrecipient.RquiredTLSAuthLevel Opportunistic.   Delivery Priority Normal

And then it no longer appears in any log or queue.

Any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated.

Outlook 2013 Stripping Select Attachments

$

It was recently brought to my attention that select attachments are getting stripped from E-mails. .docx, .xslx, .pdf 's all come and go with no issue. However, emails that contain other attachments (in particular .sldprt,.slddrw (SolidWorks) and .7z) are getting stripped.

When the emails arrive, they have no attachment at all (not even winmail.dat). This happens regardless of whether I sent these emails internally or externally.

Now, this is where things start to get confusing. If I send the email to both an internal and an external contact at the same time (tested using my work email and my personal gmail) and it contains one of the problem extensions, I can sometimes get the attachment. If I send it to both an external and internal and then attach BOTH a .docx and .sldprt it will go through all the time.

I've disabled personal firewalls, checked for spam filtering on our server, but haven't been able to come up with anything conclusive. It's just a lone 2013 server, no Edge Transport, so I am unable to do anything with Get-AttachmentFilter.

I wasn't the one who set up the exchange server, and my manager tells me that there shouldn't be a filter in place, but I'm starting to run out of ideas.

Thanks!

Exchange and Verizon.net emails

We can send email to Verizon.net from our domain teamwd.com. We can receive email from verizon.net email account but we can not send email from teamwd.com on there SBS 2011 Excahnge server. The client did get a new IP address due to getting a faster dsl connection. Not sure why we can not send a email to verizon.net. I asked verizon to add a ptr record on the connection but it did not help. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sending Mail External Fails - Message in Queue

I have a new installation of Exchange 2013 in my network. I have a 3-node network, External, Perimiter (DMz), and Internal. This is confugured utilizing Microsoft Threat Management Gateway 2010. I have a split DNS infrastructure. My internal network has Active Directory and the DNS forwards requests to my Perimiter DNS server. My permiter DNS server forwards requests to Google PUblic DNS 8.8.8.8. This seemed to work a bit better than using my ISP DNS.

I can send email internally between users with no issues. I have created a Send connector as described in a MS article for all other domains. I'm seeing in my TMG firewall logs that the SMTP from the exchange server is not getting denied and it is resolving to gmail. This is the error in the NDR:

Remote Server at gmail.com (2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
12/29/2014 1:16:01 AM - Remote Server at gmail.com (2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051, Win32 error code: 10051." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a:25'

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

store driver failed to submit event

Since upgrading from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, users who are close to their mailbox limit do not get warning messages, because delivery of the warning message fails, with the following error in the event log:

The store driver failed to submit event <event number> mailbox <mailbox guid> MDB <database guid> and couldn't generate an NDR due to exception Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxTransport.StoreDriverCommon.InvalidSenderException

   at Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxTransport.Shared.SubmissionItem.SubmissionItemUtils.CopySenderTo(SubmissionItemBase submissionItem, TransportMailItem message)

Is anyone able to suggest what the problem may be?

Linking DLP and MRM together

$

Is it possible to link DLP and MRM features in Exchange 2013?

I cannot find any documentation that confirms whether or not it is possible to create a DLP policy which will categorise an email, and then automatically apply a retention tag to it based on this classification?

Does anyone have any thought as to if this can be achieved, and if so how?
