External companies with Barracuda firewalls not able to deliver mail to our Exchange 2013 environment reliably.

We upgraded to Exchange 2013 about a year ago. Since that time we've been having issues with certain companies having their mail delayed or rejected when sending to us. No problems us sending to them though.  Eventually through troubleshooting I have determined that all of these different companies have one thing in common: a barracuda firewall.

In the year since the installation I have updated Exchange all the way to SP1 but we still have this issue. The messages usually arrive to us, but quite often a day later, etc.  Here is the message from one from the 26th that was rejected:

#< #4.0.0 X-Spam-&-Virus-Firewall; conversation withmail.domain.ca[64.46.58.226] timed out while sending MAIL FROM> #SMTP#

Hi,

After a brand new installation of Exchange 2013 I have problem with multipart/mixed messages:

some emails that was correctly handled by the old 2007 Exchange are now "broken" and it seems to be a MIME wrong decode..

this is the header of a message received with the old Exchange server

I have domain controller a.com (AD installed).

Now i add accepted domain @xyz.com

I created email policy and i can create user 2nd domain user2nd@xyz.com

if i send emails from user2nd@xyz.com to 1st@a.com its working and also received emails from 1st@a.com.

If I send mails from user2nd@xyz.com on gmail. i received the mails on gmail also.

But when I send email from gmail or from any other external email to user2nd@xyz.com it don't receive. May someone can help me to know what is the problem please.

blind copy transport rule

I want to set up a transport rule that blind copies all internal emails for all users to an external mail system. The email address for the external system is based on the AD samaccountname for each user.

So if the user has mail address   forename.surname@example.com   and their AD account is   fred

Then I want a BCC sent to       fred@external.example.com

I know I can create individual rules for each user but I figure there must be an easier way.

Not able to send mails to hotmail.com - Exchange 2010 server namespace mining

$

Dear,

Since a couple of days one of our customers cannot send mails anymore to a hotmail account from an on premises Exchange 2010 environment. Contacting Microsoft tells us that the mail server should be using namespace mining, however we are not finding any reports / output based on logging (powershell) which indicated mass sending to invalid hotmail addresses.

Any ideas?

Kind regards,

Kenny

Inter-forest migration internal relay between new organisation 2013 and old organisation 2010

Hi,

We are preparing an Inter-forest migration. The old domain has an Exchange 2010 infrastructure. The domain namespace is TEST.LOCAL and the Exchange Organization namespace is TEST.COM. We are building a new infrastructure and will be using TEST.COM as domain and Exchange namespace. The migration will be done with ADMT.

My questions are about setting up the mail flow between the new Exchange and the old Exchange. I read that you can setup an internal relay during the migration of the users to the new domain. From my understanding all emails would pass through the New CAS server 2013 then relayed to the old  Exchange organization where the user mailbox is located. What will happen once the user is migrated to the new Exchange? The mailbox will be located on the new server. Do we need to do a special configuration on the new exchanger server to let it know that the user mailbox is located in the new Exchange? Is there a special SMTP connector configuration to do?

Thanks,

Set up authenticated relay for exchange 2010

Hi,

What I am currently trying to achieve seems very simple but I can't find any information on how to do it.

I have a mail server which is on a connection with a dynamic IP address. I want to be able to send mail out but using another exchange 2010 server as the SMTP server.

I have tried adding the FQDN of our mail server that we want to route the mail through as a smart host and then authenticating using a user whop has permission to send out but I am getting a relay error. Is there something else I need to do in order for this to work? I have had it working on pervious servers using exchange 2003.

Thanks

Missing Check Box Deliver Message to Both Forwarding in Exchange 2013

We recently finished installing Exchange 2013 and it has been working fine. However, we noticed that we cannot keep messages to both forwarding address and mailbox. We do not have the check box option in Delivery Options.

How do we fix or enable that the check box for Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox?

MX Records

Hi All,

I have an Exchange 2013, all working just fine, lovely.

I need to collect emails for another domain, which is registered on the Certificate, can I just point the MX records for this domain to the A record mail address for the existing domain mail is being collected for.

So to summarise

Domain1 mail currently goes to mail.domain1.com ( A Records in place all works fine )

Can I point

Domain2 mx records to mail.domain1.com and everything just work?

Domain2 is currectly a 1and1 webmail pop, which is forwarding to domain1

I understand that accepted domains etc with in Exchange will all need doing, it's the exteranl mail flow I am concerned about.

Many Thanks

Richard

hello Guys ,

we have received alot of complains that some employees are configuring fake emails on their mobiles , for ex : he type CEO@domain.com .. then in the user feild .. he type his username so the authentication will work on the server .. so once he sends an email it appears from ceo@domain.com but actually it's from his email ( john.ex@domain.com)

in other words , i tested the smtp server using https://www.wormly.com/test_smtp_server

and i was able to send fake emails to any one in our domain .

any way to block this or strict the username with his alias only not any fake alias ?

please ?

Messages not being routed to JunkMail Folder

$

We have just migrated to Exchange 2013 from 2010. It appears we have one user whose spam is not being routed to their JunkMail Folder. We are using EOP and our Content Filter Action setting is to "Move messages to Junk Email folder"

We have applied this transport rule at the top of our list:

Move EOP Detected Spam (SFV:SPM) to Junk Email Folder
If the message...
'X-Forefront-Antispam-Report' header contains ''SFV:SPM''
Do the following...
Set the spam confidence level (SCL) to '6'
Rule mode
Enforce
Additional properties
Sender address matches: Header

Version: 14.0.0.0

AntiSpam is not installed on the Exchange server

Organization SclJunkThreshold is set to 4

No mailbox SCL thresholds are configured.

Email header is showing X-Forefront-Antispam-Report: contains SFV:SPM and X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: 6

Email is still going into JunkMail Folder

Not sure what Outlook Junk setting should be set to but I have tried Off, Low and High with no luck.

Can anyone point to a solution?

Restricions on Distributiongroups

Hi!

We have a number of Distributiongroups called 'auto*something*' and we want all users not to be able to use these groups directly.

However, these auto* groups are member of ordinary distributiongroups which users may use and send to.

I've looked through all parameters on set-distributiongroup but can't find anything that solves my problem.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks!

Duplicate MessageIDs with Exchange 2010

$

Hi,

A customer was complaining that some mails were not received by them. So I’ve been back and forth with them a couple of times and every time I show them our logs that their server accepts the message and we get an id from them so the message is delivered properly.
Now they dug a little bit deeper and noticed that it seems our Exchange server is handing out duplicate message IDs and the email is flagged as duplicate by their mail system and therefore removed and thus never received by them.
Outlook clients do not have any special plugins installed and are running on our Citrix environment which has Symantec Endpoint Protection as the virusscanner.
Using the Tracking Log Explorer I can see, when entering the MessageID of the message that is giving issues, that there are 3 messages with the same ID. All those emails are sent within 1 hour intervals but I do not think duplicate detection applies here since it is only for incoming emails.
The message subjects + content is completely different for each of the emails.
Our Exchange 2010 version is: 14.02.0247.005

Does anyone know how we can fix this issue?

Thanks

Hey guys,

Is there a way for me to send an automatic notification to external senders, based on their domain? For example user@domainA.com sends me an email and I want him to receive an email, that he should use another server to send mail with. I know you can do similar things with transport rules, but can my goal be achieved with them?

Thanks

how to send automated emails from exchange server using PS

Hi, we are making automated scripts to send a text file with some mail addresesses to another company to inject those mails address into her exchange server.

The PS script what we use are this:

<#
script de automatización de envío de correo

Version 1.00
#>

Clear-Host

Write-Host "Script de envío de archivo de contactos" -ForeGroundColor Magenta
Write-Host "Creado por Alpha Systems S.R.L. (c) 2014" -ForeGroundColor Magenta
Write-Host " "
Write-Host " "<#

Write-Host " "
Write-Host " "<#
Armamos el correo electrónico y lo enviamos
#>

$filename=“c:\Sync\Contacts-"+$Suffix+".txt”

$msg=new-object Net.Mail.MailMessage
$att=new-object Net.Mail.Attachment($filename)
$smtp=new-object Net.Mail.SmtpClient($Server)

$msg.From=$Sender_Mail_Address
$msg.To.Add($Receipt_Mail_Address)
$msg.Subject = “Correo automatizado – Contacts-"+$Suffix+".TXT”
$msg.Body=“Envío automatizado del archivo Contacts-"+$Suffix+".TXT”
$msg.Attachments.Add($filename)

$smtp.Send($msg)
Write-Host "Enviando Correo automatizado, por favor espere ... " -ForeGroundColor Green
Write-Host " "
Write-Host " "
Write-Host "Correo enviado" -ForeGroundColor Green

In the script we are asking for the name of the server, the sender and destination mail address.

In exchange Server 2010 this PS script works fine, but in Exchange 2013 SP1 does not work, we receive the following error message

Exception calling "Send" with "1" argument(s): "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay"
At C:\sync\RobotSendAutoMail.ps1:44 char:1+ $smtp.Send($msg)+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : SmtpFailedRecipientException

We need what this script works again in Exchange 2013
